YOU are never too old to learn something new.

Child and youth care workers of different ages from various centres in Gauteng descended to Noordgesig, near Soweto, where they were taught basic swimming skills.

The purpose of the swimming classes was to help the care workers better equip themselves with these life-saving skills for themselves, as well as the little ones they look after.

Care worker Tshepo Makhetha said this was a much-needed skill for them, and it would come in handy and place them in a better position should they be confronted with water related incidents.

Jacqueline Shibambo from the Department of Social Development said they welcome the initiative and will support it.

She said she hopes that this reaches many of their colleagues in the department.
