LITTLE Bokgabo Poo’s funeral is on hold until the family finds the rest of her body parts.

Residents of Wattville and Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, have been anxious about when she would be buried as they wanted to bid her farewell and support her family.

Bokgabo’s stepfather, Johannes Sibiya, told Daily Sun that the funeral was on hold for now as they wanted to continue searching for her body parts.

The four-year-old was confirmed dead on Saturday, 15 October, after her mutilated body was identified. It was

found last Tuesday on a field in Tamboville, leaving the family devastated.

Daily Sun spoke to gobela Patrick Chauke, who said burying a family member whose body parts were missing was challenging and could cause problems for the family.

He said if the family decided to bury Bokgabo without certain parts, then they should do so in secret so people would not be able to steal the rest of her body.

He revealed that whenever they decided to “pahla” (appease the ancestors), it would be difficult for her to respond positively because the family would always get an answer that she was not well as she was incomplete.

“When families exhaust all ways of finding the rest of her body parts, they usually work on the corpse to go and get revenge on whoever took the parts,” said the gobela.

He also sent his heartfelt condolences to Bokgabo’s family.

Residents are planning to wear orange T-shirts on Friday to honour the life of the little girl, and to attend all court proceedings until justice is served.
