LEAH Khoza has not been the same since a body part was found in her yard.

The leg, belonging to four-year-old Bokgabo Poo, was found on Tuesday, 11 October. Bokgabo from Wattville in Benoni, Ekurhuleni, was confirmed dead on Saturday after she was identified by her parents, Irvin Ndlovu and Tsholofelo Poo.

Leah said she found the leg around 8am in her yard in Tamboville.

“I was sweeping the yard when I found the leg and couldn’t believe my eyes. I went back in the house to try to calm myself down. I convinced myself that it was probably not what I thought it was,” said Leah.

She then went back outside, only to realise that it was, indeed, someone’s leg. She started screaming and her neighbours came out to see what was wrong. Then one of them called the police.

But Leah’s life has since changed for the worst. Even though some residents understand that she had nothing to do with Bokgabo’s death, others think she does.

“They said I’m an old woman who lives alone, therefore I’m capable of murder,” said Leah, adding that she had not been able to sleep since the discovery.

Sometimes she slept at a friend’s place while her other friends came to sleep over.

“I’m scared and can’t get that image out of my mind. I can’t believe someone would do such a gruesome thing to a child,” said Leah, admitting that she needed counselling.

Leah’s friend, Elizabeth Mtshali, said she called Daily Sun because she could see that her friend’s state of mind was getting worse.

“Sometimes you’d have a conversation with her and see that her mind is somewhere else.

“It’s like she blacks out for a few minutes.

“I just want my friend to go back to how she was before – a bubbly and friendly woman. It’s really sad to see her like this,” she said.

Busi Kheswa from Gauteng Social Development said officials would be sent to Leah’s house to asses her situation and help her with whatever she needed.
