A 21-YEAR-OLD man accused of killing six women believed to be sex workers is expected to appear in the Joburg Magistrates Court today, 11 October.
The man was arrested on Sunday, 9 October after decomposing bodies of the six women were found at a building in Central Joburg.
Sex workers gathered in large numbers at the court, filling the gallery to its capacity.
They said they came to stand in solidarity with the deceased and to demand justice for the murders.
One of the sex workers told Daily Sun they are in this position because of the police.

She said when they are harassed by their clients, they cannot run to the police because they will also harass them.
“We get beaten up and raped. When we complain to the police, some laugh at us and others further assault us. We are happy that finally someone has been arrested for the things they did to us,” she said.
Nosipho Masondo, a sex worker in Joburg, said she came to court because a man who has been abusing and killing them has finally been arrested.
She said she is relieved that this man has been arrested because they have been reporting him to the police but nothing was done.
“The police in Joburg don’t care about us. All they do is chase and drag us in the street. They fail to catch real criminals because they are busy harassing us,” she said.
