RESIDENTS have been terrorised by a white VW Polo for months, with the thugs breaking into houses and even grabbing residents' cellphones in the streets.

On Tuesday, 14 November, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) cornered the Polo in Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni, but the thugs managed to escape, and the police lost the car after a chase.

But the car was later found abandoned and parked among other vehicles at Springs Mall.

Police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the car was thoroughly tested and cops learnt that it was used in the commission of criminal activities around Ekurhuleni on different occasions.

The car was also found to have an outstanding case opened against it at the Zonkizizwe Police Station. It was then booked for safe keeping at the Aeroton police yard.

But residents said they will only be relieved if the thugs are arrested and brought to book.

"These thugs change cars. There's also a silver Audi which has been terrorising residents of Daveyton and Etwatwa," said resident Arthur Biza.

Another resident, Alex Bodiba said: "There was a time when six families in Daveyton were robbed in one night by thugs driving the same Audi. We trust the police will catch the suspects and bring them to book."
