THE 24 people injured during the explosion at Bree Steet in Jozi have been discharged from the hospital.
The Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, on Thursday, 20 July, visited five victims of the Joburg CBD explosion who are currently admitted at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH).
She said most patients were discharged shortly after being seen by doctors.
“Those who are still in hospital have been stabilised and are receiving the best possible care,” she said.

She said the patients were attended to in different health facilities, eight were seen at Hillbrow Community Healthcare Centre, six have been discharged, and two transferred to CMJAH.
The other 24 patients were treated at South Rand Hospital and have all since been discharged.
This follows the incident on Wednesday, 19 July, which resulted in one confirmed fatality on the scene and 40 other people sustaining injuries.
MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko said she was pleased to see the level of the response given by various teams of emergency medical personnel to those injured.
Head of Trauma and Chairperson of the Disaster Management Committee at CMJAH, Professor Maeyane Moeng, confirmed that the patients at the hospital are stable and should be moved from ICU to regular wards soon.
He made a plea to the public that in disaster situations, it is important to follow public safety messages to evacuate the scene instead of observing.
