MORE than 89 pupils were rushed to different hospitals after allegedly drinking poisonous juice as well as eating packs of chips and biscuits in Boipatong, Vaal.

Sixty-two girls are from Lebohang Secondary School, while three are from two different primary schools in Boipatong.

Parents came in their numbers to the Boipatong Clinic as it's alleged that during break time, the girls ate biscuits and chips, and were cooling the heat by drinking juice.

According to the devasted parents, they were called to the clinic as their kids were very critical and vomiting as they had eaten packs of mixed chips bought from vendors selling at the school fence.

One of the parents told Daily Sun that her daughter was very critical, and she couldn't understand if only girls were affected by the alleged poisonous snacks. There were no boys rushed to the clinic.

As the pupils were transferred to hospitals, some community members started looting foreign national shops.

Sedibeng Department of Health spokeswoman Porcia Gibson said 65 schoolgirls were rushed to the Sebokeng Hospital and Kopanong Hospital for medical treatment.

Gibson said some are critical, and others are stable, but all affected pupils have the same symptoms.
