HE was about to get on a taxi when a bus and an SUV collided in front of him.
So, the man abandoned the taxi and rushed to help the driver of the SUV, who was trapped inside the vehicle.
After helping the trapped driver, the good Samaritan even stood by him and told him to hold on as help was coming.
But as soon as the ambulance arrived, the good Samaritan boarded a taxi and left the scene.
Thabo Makalanyane (44), who witnessed the accident, said the good Samaritan didn't claim any glory.
He said the man stood on the side of the road on the R82 road in Vereeniging on Monday morning, 26 February waiting to catch a taxi when a bus collided with a Hyundai Tucson.
“The bus was stopped by a wall. The driver of the vehicle was left badly injured and trapped in his car. A brave man unstrapped the injured motorist in his smashed vehicle and resuscitated him while people were watching.
"He stood by the injured motorist and told him to hold on as help was coming. An ambulance finally arrived, and the hero boarded a taxi and left as if nothing happened. He claimed no glory and just left scene,” he said.

Other witnesses told Daily Sun the brave man said he was late for work and left.
Meanwhile, the family of the motorist told the People's Paper that their brother was critical but stable and wished him speedy recovery.
Midvaal Municipality spokeswoman, Hettie Fowlds said Midvaal Fire and Rescue responded to an accident on the R82 on Monday morning, 26 February.
She said the accident occurred when a light motor vehicle attempted to overtake another, resulting in a head-on collision with a bus.
"The bus lost control and was stopped by a wall. Fortunately, the bus driver sustained no serious injuries. The two drivers were the only people involved in the accident," Fowlds said.
She said the injured motorist was in a critical condition and was airlifted to hospital.
