ULTRAMARATHON runner, Tete Dijana, received a hero's welcome in his hometown of Mahikeng in the North West on Wednesday, 14 June.
The community was celebrating Tete's second consecutive Comrades Marathon win, which he completed in a record breaking time of 5:13:58 in Durban on Sunday, 11 June.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Tete from Lonely Park said he is very happy and proud of his coach, Dave Adams.
Asked how he prepared for the race, Tete said: "I had to take leave from work and go to camp. Fortunately, everything went well according to the way we wanted together with my team. The race was not easy for me, but you saw Piet (Holland) was coming behind me and I had to reserve the energy for him."

He confirmed to Daily Sun that he still works as a security guard at Mi7 National Group at the North West University.
North West Premier Bushy Maape was one of those who congratulated Tete for successfully defending his championship and also setting a new record.
Maape also congratulated the 2021 champion, Edward Mothibi, 2015 champion, Gift Kelehe, who are also from the North West, as well as other contenders such as Joseph Manyedi, Gordon Lesetedi, Onalenna Khonkhobe, as well Johannes Makhetla.
