POLICE detectives in the Eastern Cape have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in the double murder of two men and attempted murder of a woman, that took place on Friday, 9 December.
According to Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, at about 3.30am, cops were summoned to a complaint of a shooting at the Mdantsane Access Road.
“At the scene, two bodies of men, believed to be travelling in a silver VW polo, were found with gunshot wounds to the upper body. A woman, who was a passenger in the same car, was rushed to a hospital with minor injuries,” Nkohli said in a statement.
She further said passengers in two cars, a white Ford bakkie and silver VW Polo, were allegedly involved in a shooting.
“At the scene, police also found one unlicensed firearm with ammunition from one of the deceased. Preliminary investigation revealed that the recovered firearm was stolen in Beacon Bay three years ago.”
Nkohli added that details of the shooting were still sketchy, and the names of the deceased were being withheld until their families identified the bodies.
“Police opened a case of murder (two counts) and attempted murder, and are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact their nearest police station,” Nkohli said.
