TWO kids were playing outside their home but that was the last time they played together.
This is because the kids, aged three and four, were electrocuted by a neigbhour's electric fence after they both touched it. The incident happened at Zwelisha in Verulam, north of Durban on Wednesday, 3 April.
They were rushed to hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
Ward Councillor Nkosiyezwe Mhlongo told Daily Sun he went to the scene on the day of the incident. He said he discovered that the owner of the house where the electric fence is had illegally connected electricity.
"He illegally connected the electricity of the municipality at his home. He hasn't been seen in the area for the past three months. None of the neighbours know where he is," he said.

The councillor said that he contacted the eThekwini Municipality to inform them about the illegal connection.
"The municipality should disconnect the electricity from the house because even the entire house has had the lights switched on since he left," he said.
Mhlongo said he also contacted the police, and the neighbour is being traced. "I'm still going to visit the family in order to see if they need help for the kids' burial," he said.
KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the Verulam cops have opened an inquest docket following the incident.
"Both victims were taken to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries on arrival. Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated," he said.
