MADALA Matondzi Ramokundo from Hebron near Midas in Mabopane, Tshwane, needs help.

The 63-year-old sangoma needs a place to live.

He told Daily Sun that he has been living in a dilapidated one-roomed shack since February 2023.

Madala said he was rented a stand by an unknown man who wanted him to pay R500 every month.

He said since he was desperate and homeless, he decided to rent the stand from the man.

“I have been living from one place to the other since 2014 when I came back from ukuthwasa,” he said.

He said he's been struggling since then.

“My stand where I had built a shack was stolen when I went to thwasa. When I came back from ukuthwasa, I found a house built on my stand. So, I had to look for another place to stay,” he said.

He said when he found the unknown man in February, he thought his problems would be over but instead, they got worse.

The madala said that his ancestors want him to practise his calling.

“I need to continue with my work as a sangoma, but I can't do it here,” he said.

He said he needs help from SunReaders to find a place to live.

“I would really appreciate it if I could get help to find a place. With my pension money I can save and build myself a home,” he said.

Madala’s neighbour, Julia Molwantwa (47), said she was shocked when she discovered where the madala was staying.

“This isn’t a stand. We don’t know the man who placed him here. This is definitely not a place where a person should stay,” she said.

She said when madala explained everything to her, she decided intervene.

“I took madala’s Sassa card and I've been buying groceries for him so that he doesn’t pay this unknown man who’s scamming him,” she said.
