DLALISA Moyeni Foundation organised a fellowship tournament at the Muckleuneck Sports Grounds in Mamelodi, Tshwane on Sunday, 24 March.
Bongani Skosana, founder of the foundation, said the purpose of the tournament is to remember the boy child.
The annual event started in 2022 with eight teams from around Gauteng participating in the tournament.
Bongani said some soccer legends played together and it helped to inspire young players, adding that the tournament was not about money even though teams won prizes.
"The tournament continues to grow each year and my mission is to accommodate all teams nationally. I do this out of love. Soccer is a popular sport in kasis and I also played amateur football in Mamelodi," he said.
Bongani said that he's happy that the tournament is taking children away from the streets.
Themba Masango, spokesman of the foundation, said the winning teams received medals and trophies, while the legends received vouchers.

"We encourage communities to be part of the initiative. This is a blessing, and we are happy to uplift and play a role in our communities," he said.
Former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe, who was part of the tournament, said young players look up to them.
"These young boys last saw us on TV, and we want them to have a reference," he said.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs player, Katlego Mphela said young players must take football seriously as it's a great opportunity for them.
"We didn't have such initiatives when we were growinng up. You never know who is watching. Such games take boys away from the streets, teach them discipline and give them hope," he said.
