TSHWANE Police District Commissioner, Major General Azwinndini Nengovhela led Operation Shanela in Tshwane and continued to clean-up crime.
According to Tshwane district police spokesman, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, the police arrested 1 068 suspects in the past six days and recovered two firearms.
He said Operation Shanela was conducted in Bronkhorstspruit and Cullinan on Saturday, 27 January.
"We arrested 340 suspects who are involved in various crimes, including 10 people for driving under the influence of alcohol. One person was arrested for illicit cigarettes when 12 000 illegal cigarettes were found in his possession," he said.
He said two people were arrested for possession of nyaope. He said another person was found with R570 in his possession.
"One hundred and fifteen undocumented immigrants were detained and will be deported once legal processes have been finalised," he said.
Van Dyk said detectives arrested 228 suspects on various charges, which include 61 for offenses against women, 17 for armed robbery, and five for rape.

He said four liquor outlets were closed and 13 000ml of liquor was confiscated.
"Throughout the week, 1 693 vehicles underwent thorough searches at roadblocks, resulting in the issuing of 256 Aarto fines totaling R112 900," he said.
He said the success of the operation was achieved through collaboration among multiple stakeholders, including the Departments of Home Affairs, Labour, Correctional Services, Community Safety, crime prevention wardens, Tracker, Gauteng traffic, local councillors, Community Policing Forums and different units and stations within Tshwane district.
Van Dyk said on Wednesday, 24 January, six suspects were arrested and two firearms were recovered after information was received about people responsible for an online robbery committed on Tuesday, 22 January.
He said the tracing of the suspects led to the arrest of the criminals and the recovery of two firearms during the operation. The suspects will be charged with armed robbery and possession of unlicenced firearms," he said.
