THE case against seven suspects who are accused of kidnapping and killing Solomon Mmopane has been postponed to 26 March by the Moretele Magistrates Court in Tshwane.
This after the attorneys of the accused asked the court for more time to allow them to access documents of some of the accused who are reported to have made confessions.
Thabang Chauke (20), Kenneth Matjiu (20), Thabiso Meso (31), Shoni Baloyi (33), Tshepo Lekalakala (34), Jack Masamane (36) and Aaron Ndima (38) are facing charges of murder, kidnapping, malicious damage to property, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), defeating the ends of justice, unlawful possession of a firearm, as well as carjacking and violation of a grave.

The body of Solomon from Dertig in Hammanskraal was found buried in a shallow grave on top of another grave at Bosplaas West Cemetery on Friday, 23 February. This after he was reported missing on 18 February at Makapanstad Police Station.
One of the attorneys Samuel Modau who is representing six of the accused said: “It came to our attention that our clients have made confessions, so we are entitled to those in preparation for our bail application. So, we still need to go through the copies and establish if they agree with what has been said so that we can proceed.”
Sister to the deceased, Asnath Mmopane, said the family hopes the confessions will be something that will assist the court with its investigations.
Asnath said all they want is to find out why their loved one was killed in a gruesome manner so that they can get closure.
Dertig community policing forum chairman, Sello Dire, said they will not get tired of attending court proceedings and that all they want is justice for Solomon.
Dire said when the court mentioned confessions by some of the accused, they hoped for the truth to come out.
