SECURITY guards from KTC Day Hospital in Gugulethu saw a person pushed in a wheelchair on Tuesday morning, 13 June.
The guards quickly opened the gate thinking it was a patient.
Little did they know that the "wheelchair-bound" man was a thug.
To their shock, the moment they opened the gate, the thug in a wheelchair stood up and pointed the gun at the guard who opened the gate.
In a video that has gone viral, a female security guard is seen running for her life while the other guard kneels with his hands up.
The three men enter the premises, search the guards and ransack the guardroom. One of the thugs is seen pointing a firearm at the security guard kneeling on the ground.
After the gang left, the guard is seen running into the guardroom.
The Department of Health and Wellness confirmed the incident.
Spokeswoman Monique Johnstone said the thugs gained entry by impersonating patients.

“No one was hurt physically. However, the trauma such actions leave on the victims is long-lasting. Everyone at the facility has been offered counselling and will continue to be supported in their emotional recovery,” said Johnstone.
Western Cape MEC for Health and Wellness Dr Nomafrench Mbombo condemned the incident.
"Our health facilities are essential assets to our communities where residents can seek proper healthcare in a safe environment. These actions not only undermine our facilities' ability to function, but place our staff and patients' lives in danger. I hope that SAPS prioritises this case and ensures that the perpetrators face the full consequences of the law," she said.
Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said cops responded to the robbery at the clinic at about 3 am.
“Reports suggested that three unknown men entered the premises and robbed the personnel at the gate at gunpoint of their valuables.
“The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. We can confirm that no one sustained any injuries. The motive for the attack is robbery,” said Swartbooi.
