THREE suspects have been arrested with a truck reportedly transporting stolen railway tracks valued at about R3 million.
The three men are aged between 41 and 51.
Two were confirmed to be undocumented foreigners from Mozambique while the third one is a Zimbabwean national who is legal in the country.
Mpumalanga police spokesman Selvy Mohala said the trio were cornered and bust on Tuesday, afternoo, 19 September, at about 4pm on the N4 Road in Middleburg.
According to Mohlala, the railway was stolen at Barberton in the Ehlanzeni District in August. This led to a case of theft being opened.
“A case was opened and the investigation was handed over to the said team, with the hope to arrest perpetrators and recovery the reportedly stolen items,” Mohlala said.

He said after the search, the team discovered many railway tracks inside the truck, and subsequently, the three men were arrested and charged.
The charges they face include possession of suspected stolen properties, regarding the railway track, while the two were charged with contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa.
The suspects are expected to appear at the Middelburg Magistrates Court on Thursday, 21 September.
In the meantime, Mpumalanga police commissioner Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela praised the cops for this breakthrough.
