Tebogo Maponya was allegedly stabbed to death at a tavern.

THE Maponya family from Ga-Chuene Leshikishiki Village in Limpopo is pleading for help.

The family is asking for donations to bury their 30-year-old loved one who was stabbed to death.

Tebogo Jim Maponya was allegedly stabbed to death with a knife by Keitumetse Chuene (20) suspect following a heated argument at a tavern in the early hours of Sunday morning, 15 October.

The deceased aunt, Melita Maponya (53), told Daily Sun that she was awakened by the heartbreaking news and immediately rushed to the scene, only to find Tebogo lying in a pool of blood.

“I’m still traumatised after seeing him lying there, bleeding. He was an orphan. We will miss him because he was a caring person,” she said.

Melita said they're now facing an additional ordeal with the funeral parlour they joined three months ago.

“We're asking for donations as the funeral parlor is demanding R10 500 from us because of the six-month waiting period,” she said.

According to Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the spokesperson for the Limpopo National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the fatal attack took after an argument erupted between the suspect and the victim.

"The suspect allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the victim, who was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. The suspect was swiftly apprehended after the incident was reported to the police," he said.

Malabi-Dzhangi said the suspect made his first court appearance in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Monday, 16 October.

“He is facing charges of murder and robbery. The suspect will appear again in court on 24 October for profiling,” she said.
