MPUMALANGA cops have launched a manhunt for suspects who shot and killed a 39-year-old taxi driver and then robbed his passengers.

It happened on Monday, 21 March on the N12 in Delmas.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the driver was ferrying passengers from Joburg to Mozambique when the taxi started having mechanical problems.

“The driver then decided to drive back to the Petroport petrol station on the N12 for assistance, but the taxi lost power and switched off along the way. Suddenly, three armed suspects appeared, pointed them with firearms and demanded money.”

Mohlala said the driver allegedly told them they didn’t have money and one shot and killed him. They then robbed passengers of their cellphones and cash and fled.

“The incident was reported to cops in Delmas, who opened cases of murder and robbery with a firearm,” said Mohlala.

He urged anyone with information to contact Warrant Officer Makhosini Nkosi at 082 772 1985, Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app.
