Suspects wanted after a shoot-out with guards

FREE STATE police have launched a manhunt after two security officers were shot by unknown suspects on Tuesday, 18 October.

According to Captain Stephen Thakeng, the two guards were conducting their patrols around Waterkant Street in Odendaalsrus at about 7pm.

“Their vehicle was approached by three unknown African men who started shooting at them. The guards returned fire, injuring one of the suspects,” Thakeng said in a statement.

He said both guards sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to hospital.

“Odendaalsrus police opened two attempted murder cases for investigation,” said Thakeng.
