accreditation

A MAN has been fatally stabbed following an argument over an illegal electricity connection.

The 32-year-old man was stabbed after a fight between the owners of formal stands and the adjacent informal settlement in Kaalfontein on Sunday, 13 November.

Ivory Park police spokesman Captain Ben Matimulane told Daily Sun the victim apparently came home from an outing and was told that some people known to them came and took out an electric cable, leaving them without power.

“The victim went to investigate, and came back immediately after as the person allegedly responsible for taking the cable was not found,” said Matimulane.

He said shortly afterwards, another man who the deceased allegedly had a scuffle with came back with a group of people and during the mix-up, the victim was stabbed once in the chest.

He died at a local clinic a short while later.

The station commander of Ivory Park Police Station Brigadier David Ngcobo has called on anyone who was there to come forward as “this form of lawlessness cannot be left unattended”.

“The killer should get their day in court and for the family of the deceased to get justice,” said Brigadier Ngcobo.

The police are appealing to anyone who has information regarding this incident to come forward so that the suspect can be brought to account.

A case of murder has been opened at the Ivory Park cop shop and the investigations are ongoing.
