MONTSHIOA traffic cops arrested a speeding government official on Tuesday afternoon, 17 January.

This after the 26-year-old man was stopped by the officers who were conducting a stop and search operation on the N18 road near Makhubung Village, outside Mahikeng.

According to North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management spokesman Oshebeng Alpheus Koonyaditse, the accused was driving a government registered car and was charged with reckless driving as he clocked 144km/h on a 60km/h zone.

“This is one example that shows that the application of the law does not segregate and applies equally to all. We are thankful for the work done by the officers,” said MEC for the Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari.
