Sona 2024 red carpet: Retirement chic or haute couture?

IN a stunning twist on the red carpet at the State of the Nation Address, it seems the fashion theme was more retirement chic than haute couture.

This year, the trend was more like a leisurely stroll through a retirement village. That would happen when the average age of cabinet ministers is 61!

ANC MPs proud of the past five years

EFF ishapa Sona ka bomb!

EFF MPs will not participate in the 2024 Sona activities and programme.

This is after the Western Cape High Court dismissed its application for leave to appeal a decision that forbids EFF leader Julius Malema and five other MPs from participating in the Sona on Thursday, 8 February.

Ramaphosa under fire!

THE State of the Nation Address (Sona) will be a dull event!

This is according to opposition parties, as they expressed their views ahead of the family meeting to be addressed by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday, 8 February at Cape City Hall.

Congress of the People (Cope) President Mosioua Lekota said Ramaphosa’s lackluster performance pattern and the collapse of governance were compelling reasons not to expect anything dramatic.

What to expect from Ramaphosa!

PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa is set to deliver the 2024 State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Thursday, 8 February, 7pm.

Notably, this will be the last Sona of the 6th administration before the 2024 national and provincial elections.

This might be the last time Ramaphosa delivers the Sona, should his party, the ANC, lose the elections or fail to get coalition partners to boost their numbers. This after it has been predicted that the governing party’s chances of winning the elections are slim.
