THE AFRICAN National Congress (ANC) government has done a lot for Mzansi people.

This is according to the ruling party’s MPs.

They told Daily Sun on the red carpet ahead of the State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Thursday, 8 February that there was a good story tell by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Water and Sanitation deputy minister David Mahlobo said compared to prior 1994, Mzansi was a better place today and people were coming back into employment.

“We are expecting from His Excellency to give us a message of hope,” he said.

He said the ANC government supports early childhood development and pupils continue to receive the support until they reach university.

Mahlobo said however, there were many other areas that the country hasn't reached.

He said some people don’t have access to water and education, and there were the stubborn issues of unemployment and inequality, including the issues of poverty.

“Those are some of the issues, but there is a clear plan and the NDP (national development plan) and our economic reconstruction recovery plan prioritising infrastructure as a bedrock and the catalyst to be able to stimulate our economy,” he said.

Deputy minister of sport, arts and culture and ANC MP Nocawe Mafu said the president has to tell Mzansi people what the government has done in the past five years.

“The president must also inspire hope to the South Africans in order for the South Africans to find it within themselves to vote the ANC in again for the 7th administration. They will not do that until they can identify with what the president will be saying he will do in the next term. I’m sure that South Africans will give you that opportunity again,” she said.
