SOME people in Mamelodi have joined uMkhonto WeSizwe party.
The Ward 10 MK members in Mamelodi East, Tshwane are hopefully that the party will do well in the upcoming elections.
Ward 10 chairman Joe Kgopa said they dumped the ANC because of the ruling party's empty promises.
He said that they were not happy after they were promised by the provincial government that all people in the Alaska informal settlement will be relocated to a better place.
"We have been waiting since 2007 until today, and nothing has happened. In all elections, we've been promised to be relocated. After the elections, they tell us they are managing the process of elections," he said.

Kgopa said that they are tired of waiting because the residents of Alaska are bothering the residents of Lusaka with electricity and water.
He said they don't have services and their roads are bad.
"We have decided to dump ANC because it has failed us. At Umkhonto Wesizwe, we feel at home," he said.
Kgopa said they have hope in MK because it will fulfil their needs and move them to a better place, adding that the party is growing.
"We will follow former president Jacob Zuma everywhere because he cared about the struggles of black people."
Thembinkosi Magagula, a Ward 100 MK chairman, said that they don't have services in their area.
"We believe in uMkhonto WeSizwe party, and we want Zuma to be our president again. Zuma cares about community and black people," he said.
