Sleep-over at boyfriend's saved my life

accreditation

MAKING a last minute decision to go sleep at her boyfriend’s house may have saved her life.

The 29-year-old woman’s ex-boyfriend allegedly torched her room, but luckily she wasn’t home.

The woman from Zandspruit near Cosmo City, north of Joburg, said on Saturday night, 8 October, she bumped into her ex at a local tavern.

She said when she refused to talk to him, he told her he’d do something bad to her.

The woman took the threat seriously and decided to sleep at her boyfriend’s place and on Sunday morning, she got a call that her room was on fire.

When she got there, all her belongings were ashes.

She said her neighbours told her they saw her ex leaving the place moments before the fire started.

“I’m sure he burnt my home thinking I was inside. He has been harassing me and he even attempted to kill me when I broke up with him. He stabbed me in the head with a bottle and when I wanted to open a case, he threatened to have my child killed.”

The woman said the fire was another pain she had to suffer.
