FAMILY and friends are expected to gather at the David Pine Multipurpose Centre in Dobsonville, Soweto, on Saturday, 13 April, for the funeral service of a Joburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officer, Nombulelo Linda Mthimkhulu.
Nombulelo was shot and killed by the police during a shoot-out at her home in Dobsonville, Soweto, on Saturday, 6 April.
This is after the officer allegedly tried to defend her son after reckless driving claims.
According to Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesman Phaladi Shuping, the incident resulted in the death of a JMPD officer, who is allegedly the driver's mother.
"It's alleged that police officers were on patrol when they saw a car that was driving recklessly and tried to stop it. The driver didn't stop, and the police pursued it until it stopped at a certain house on Monaisa Street in Dobsonville," said Shuping.
