A SUSPECT wanted for murder and his two accomplices died in a gun battle with cops.
The suspect who was wanted for murder and his two suspected accomplices were fatally wounded after they started a gun battle with police along the R612 road in Umzinto North yesterday.
The KZN cops spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said police had operationalised intelligence information and cornered the suspects as they were leaving a mall in Scottburgh.
"The police ordered the suspects to stop but the trio defied the lawful instructions and sped off. A high-speed chase ensued with police continuing efforts to pull them over," he said.

He said with police closing in on them, the suspects fired shots at the men of law and a shootout ensued.
"After the gunfire three suspects were found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds. No police officer was reported injured," he said.
Colonel Netshiunda said the deceased are linked to a murder that they allegedly committed in Dududu in October 2022.
