THE people of Brackenfell, Cape Town, are in shock after a baby’s head was discovered near a railway line in the area on Saturday night, 13 August.

Resident Nonkosi Ntengela (34) told Daily Sunhe went to the scene after seeing a huge group of residents and cops at the scene. She that the head was in a torn plastic bag and it had almost decomposed.

“We are still shocked by the incident and many residents still have more questions than answers. Eeveryone still wants to know who did this terrible thing to a baby,” Nonkosi said.

Residents who discovered the baby’s head quickly called the security company that patrols around the area.

They went to the scene and called the cops.

“The security people tried to look around for the other body parts, but they were nowhere to be found,” said another resident.

“So, nobody knows where the other parts are or whether the child is from the area, or the head was just dumped by someone who came from somewhere else.”

The security company that attended to the scene, Titanium Securitas, confirmed the incident. “Titanium Securitas Medical Response received a call regarding a suspected decapitated baby’s head that was found along the railway tracks close to the Everite Bridge in Brackenfell. Upon arrival, it was confirmed by our medical team that it was indeed the head of a baby that was found,” the company posted on its Facebook page.

Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “Brackenfell cops opened an inquest docket following the discovery of the head of a baby on Saturday at about 10.30pm. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. Anyone with information should call CrimeStop on 08600 10111.”
