SOME sex workers said they will not work during the Easter holidays as they plan to attend church.
They said they'll go to church as they need prayers and to worship with other people.
A 25-year-old sex worker from Tshwane said she has been in this line of work for two years and hardships and unemployment are the major cause.
She said she's taking care of her seven-year-old child.
"I normally work on Fridays to Sundays, but because of Easter, I decided to work during the week as I will be home going to church," she said.
She said families don't even know that she is a sex worker. She said sex workers need to be respected as they do it to make a living.
"When I'm sometimes not in the streets, my clients call me at home and they pick me up at my place to their places of choice whether it's a hotel or guest house," she said.

Another sex worker (35) from Ekurhuleni said she does her work far away from her family and friends because they think she works as a domestic worker. She said she'll be in church on Friday, 29 March as she's a Christian.
"When Easter comes, I don't go to work as I will be in church worshipping with other congregants,” she said.
She said she started working as a sex worker at the age of 18 in Durban.
"This work is good because I manage to take care of my child and family members," she said.
She said she makes more than R7 000 a month, adding that they're sometimes attacked by thugs in the streets who rob them of their cellphones, purses and money.
