THE North Gauteng High Court in Tshwane heard that the second state witness in the Senzo Meyiwa case might have contaminated the crime scene.

The second state witness, Sergeant Patrick Mlungisi Mthethwa and a colleague, were the first cops to respond to the shooting.

Mthethwa told the court that they received a call at 8.53pm and were informed of a shooting in progress at 13511 Kutlwanong Street, Mzamo Section.

He said when the person they found at the scene, who introduced himself as Themba, told them there was a shooting and that the people were taken to hospital. He said they went into the house and it didn’t look like there was a fight, so they went to the hospital.

TT Thobane, for accused one to four, told Mthethwa that they might have comprised the scene as they left the scene unattended and failed to cordon it off.

But Mthethwa said there was no scene to cordon off because they did not know what had happened.

The court adjourned for the day.
