Mayor Jester Sidell warned residents to evacuate from flood line areas and avoid crossing flooded streams as more rain was expected throughout November and December.

She said relief items such as blankets and tarpaulins were being distributed while power supply was being restored.

Resident Nomsa Nkambule (47) said: “We saw a dark cloud floating above and suddenly, a violent storm hit the entire village. The roofs of houses were blown off, leaving furniture, clothes and food wet.”
