VILLAGERS from the Ledig Kagiso 1 section outside Rustenburg live in fear that their homes will bury them.
Residents said their homes have cracked since the alleged mine began operating 1 km from their front door.
A resident, Katlego Makinita, said they have lived there for more than twenty years, and this has never happened before, but only after the mine allegedly started operating.
"Our furniture is damaged. The walls of our houses are getting cracks."
Another resident, Nkele Kelaotswe, said most of the houses in his neighbourhood have been damaged.
Nkele said they want to know what the exact cause could be and called on the mine to urgently conduct an investigation.
David Maubane, a local resident, said this is a serious health risk.
"My garden is pretty much dead. Nothing grows anymore. The water we drink is contaminated from the mining operations. We are really in danger," David said.

Bakubung Platinum Mine (BPM) communications specialist Prudence Motswatswe said the mine is aware of the allegations.
She said BPM considers these allegations troubling.
"The welfare of the Ledig community is of paramount importance to us.
"One of our main goals is to have a harmonious and sustainable coexistence with minimal damage to the land and surrounding community," Motswatswe said.
Motswatswe said the BPM is in the process of conducting a geohydrology study in the affected areas to determine if the damage is caused by the BPM.
She added that she will provide feedback once there is clarity on the matter.
