NEWS on social media that SASSA gold cards will not work after December is fake!

The South African Postbank has told SASSA beneficiaries that their cards will continue to work throughout December and beyond.

Postbank spokesman Bongani Diako warned beneficiaries that they should be aware of false rumours doing rounds on social media, claiming that the SASSA cards would expire in December and they wouldn't be paid their social grants.

“This is not true. SASSA Gold Cards will not expire in December 2023,” he said.

He assured all SASSA beneficiaries that they would be paid their SASSA grants this December and in 2024 with their SASSA gold cards.

“SASSA beneficiaries are urged to rest easy, stay at home and ignore anyone that calls them to any venues under the pretext that the SASSA gold cards are expired, and they should change their cards," said Diako.

He said beneficiaries should not allow themselves to be misled into changing their SASSA gold cards so that they can continue enjoying numerous benefits, including free withdrawals inside retail shops, free three-month statements and balance inquiry.

People have been worried on Facebook and other social media platforms about the future of their grants.

“We reiterate that beneficiaries using SASSA Gold Cards can rest assured that their grants will be paid in their expired Gold Cards in December 2023 and all subsequent months,” said Diako.
