A MAN who collided with former president Jacob Zuma in a car accident has been arrested.
Police spokeswoman Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed this on Friday, 29 March.
Former president Jacob Zuma was involved in a car crash on Thursday night, 28 March. It happened while his convoy was driving from his home in Nkandla to Eshowe, KZN.
It's alleged that the car of a drunken man collided with Zuma's vehicle, and he and his bodyguards were not harmed.
Mathe said a 51-year-old man was arrested on a charge of drunken driving.
“Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for drunken driving as well as a charge of reckless driving and negligence driving.
“The man’s motor vehicle collided with former president Mr Jacob Zuma’s official armoured state vehicle,” she said.

Brigadier Mathe said at the time of the collision, Zuma was in the vehicle with his protectors.
“No one was injured, including members of the Presidential Protection Services (PPS). The former president was evacuated and taken to his residence. The accident happened on the R66 on Thursday, 28 March 2024 at about 6.40pm.
“The man is detained and is expected to appear before the Eshowe Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 2 April,” she said.
The accident happened a day when the IEC confirmed that Zuma would not be on the ballot paper for the upcoming election on 29 May, while he didn’t stand a chance to go to Parliament again because of his criminal records.
