KASI people and villagers have been sidelined or even forgotten when it comes to technology.

This is the claim of NetNineNine, a technology company that has set itself the goal of bringing high-quality internet to people's doorsteps.

According to Albert Oosthuysen, chief executive officer of NetNineNine, the company is a fibre optic internet telecommunications company based in Gauteng. It provides all services to the people and lays the fibre optic cables in the ground.

He said they provide free fibre to schools, free data to schools and lay fibre to people's homes.

"It works at speed. It's worth having it in your home because it's cheap and affordable," he said.

He said they're also creating jobs in different areas of Mzansi.

"We started in the leafy suburbs and for a long time we wanted to go to the townships and villages," he said.

He said the company was established around 2021 and it all started in Kagiso, Mogale City.

"Our mandate is to connect many public schools, although our business is to connect people to the internet at home, especially paying customers. This gives us the opportunity to give back to the communities," he said.

The chief of staff at NetNineNine, Nicholas Thipe, said they are spreading their wings and that it all started in Kagiso.

"We've been in Ga-Rankuwa, Hammanskraal and have also left footprints in other parts of Mpumalanga and the Free State. Our aim is to reach everyone," he said.

He said that lately everything is digital. Thipe said demand was high and he would also consider a package for older people.

"Our challenge is that we want to grow. NetNineNine is the tool the country needs. Data must fall," he said.

Thipe appeals to the government to work with the company.

He said that where they connect fibre, they create jobs for young people.

The company's latest installation took place two weeks ago at Rens Town in Hammanskraal.
