FIVE men suspected to be izinkabi were arrested in Cato Manor, Durban on Thursday, 16 March.
The men were allegedly on their way "to carry out a hit", and thanks to a quick response from the cops their mission was stopped.
KZN police confirmed that several illegal guns, including AK47s were found at the scene.
Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and KZN Community Safety and Liaison MEC Sipho Hlomuka were at the scene.

The arrest comes after a series of killings in KZN.
Addressing the media at the scene, KZN police spokesman Brigadier Jay Naicker said the cops were on the ground when they were informed about suspicious cars in the area. According to an informant, they were on their way “to carry out a hit”.
Naicker said the three cars the suspects were travelling in had been identified as stolen.
He said what will unfold after this arrest will be important as he was positive that it will lead to more charges.
"Fingerprints and DNA will link them to other ongoing murder investigations," said Naicker.
On 10 February, rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot dead outside Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.
On 13 February, five people from Marriannhil were gunned down.
In the KwaMashu hostel, there was also a mass shooting where four men were gunned down on 1 February.
There hasn't been any arrests in all those murders.

A resident told Daily Sun that whoever they were going to kill has very strong ancestors who work overtime.
"This person should have been dead by now. The person should be grateful to have such good neighbours who saw the suspicious cars and called the police," said the resident.
"Cops should also be applauded for responding quickly. At the moment, we are not sure who was the targeted person."
