LIBERTY Ndlovu’s handmade car is the talk of his kasi.
And whenever the 25-year-old drives around the streets of Rondebult, near Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni, everyone stops to stare.
Liberty, who moved from Zimbabwe in 2014, said he discovered his talent while he was in Grade 7.
He said his car took him six months to build with a generator engine, a modified motorbike gearbox, a steel tube, bicycle wheels and metal sheets.
He said the car had a clutch, brake lights and even a cellphone charger.
Liberty said he started making the car in July and completed it last month. “I am happy because people like my car and I’m comfortable driving it. People often come up to see it at close range and many don’t believe I built it myself,” he said.
Liberty said although he didn’t have matric, he was determined to become a top inventor. He said this was his first car, but he previously made peanut butter machines. He said his next project would be an plane.
Liberty said he hoped to get help to become an engineer with his own workshop. He said he also did welding and made gates and steel structures.
