THE kidnapping happened right in front of her eyes.
She saw a group men dragging the woman out of her car and putting her inside theirs. She quickly took down the registration number and description of the car.
The kidnappers then sped off with the victim last Friday, 9 December.
The witness drove to the police station to report the kidnapping, and saved the victim after cops went out to search for the suspects.
Sergeant Rider Ubisi, from Putfontein police, said the kidnapped woman was locked in a shack in the N12 free way in Cloverdene, Ekurhuleni.
“On Friday in Mayfield extension 6, the woman was accosted by two armed men, who forcefully took her out of her car and dragged her into a maroon Hyundai i10 before speeding off,” he said, adding that the witness went to the cop shop to report the matter.
Ubisi said the car was circulated and cops proceeded to the address in Chief Luthuli, where they found its owner, arrested him and confiscated it.
“The arrested suspect led cops to other suspects and on arrival, found them drinking beer. They started shooting at the police while running towards different directions. Members gave chase and managed to apprehend another suspect,” he said.
“The police went on to open the shack in the notorious N12 squatter camp and found the victim, who was naked and handcuffed.”
Ubisi said the woman was rescued, and told them that she was raped and robbed of R10 000.
The suspects will appear in court soon.
