PASTOR Mamorwa Gololo’s experience has given her the strength to help other widows.
She has now become an umbrella that brings widows and divorcees together as she feels they are sidelined by society.
The 61-year-old from Bedfordview in Ekurhuleni, who is the chairwoman of Naomi Widows Forum, joined the forum in 2018, six months after her husband’s death.
She told Daily Sun widows faced a lot of challenges and they’re not helped by anyone.
“Among these challenges is the pressure to practise certain rituals from the man’s family, which you don’t necessarily agree with,” she said.
Mamorwa said the organisation also helps divorcees, orphans and educates married women.
She said they have lawyers who help widows with issues of property grabs.
Mamorwa said the forum wants to be recognised nationally and to even extend internationally.
One widow said she felt broken after her husband died.
“I feel better since joining the forum. I really appreciate what they’ve done for us,” she said.
Another window said she’s grateful for the forum because it brought light into her life. She said her husband’s family was making her life a living hell as they were trying to take everything her husband owned.
“Their lawyers helped me and now my kids and I still have a home because of them. I’m happy,” she said.
