CHURCHES held a day of thanksgiving on Sunday, 6 March to thank God for protecting them during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pastors from different churches gathered with their congregations and community members in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane, to praise God.
They said the past two years had been difficult for their members with some losing loved ones and others their income.
Wanka Mogale of Elder of Grace Kingdom Community Centre said when Covid-19 hit Mzansi, they thought huge numbers of people would die.
“As a church, we decided to cry out to God and say we need help,” he said.
“Even though we lost some of our loved ones, it was not as bad as predicted.”
“We have seen God’s intervention and this is us saying thank you,” he said.
Organiser Apostle Sibusiso Khoza said they were not only praying for Ga-Rankuwa but for the whole of Africa.
He said God also gave him a message that the pandemic had passed. “God told me that Africa is over the worst,” he said.
Pastor Thapelo Mmusi from My Jesus is the Answer Ministry said he was grateful that Covid-19 brought people closer to God. “Yes, we lost a lot but we gained something even better, which is God,” he said.
