MISS Curvy Africa Bold and Beautiful will host auditions for Miss Curvylicious SA at the South African State Theatre in Tshwane on 7 May.
Pageant organiser Maatemeke Phasha from Atteridgeville, Tshwane, believes the event is home to strong, voluptuous, fit and sexy women with confidence.
The 39-year-old, who is originally from Sekhukhune in Limpopo, called on plus-size women aged between 20 and 45 with sizes 36 to 46 to take part in the event.
She said as a plus-size woman, she knew what these women needed and what platform they needed in modelling.
“I feel excited because it was always my dream to open a pageant.
“Miss Curvy Africa inspired me a lot to have this in South Africa,” she said.
“We are looking for about 60 women from all provinces across Mzansi.”
Maatemeke described herself as a hardworking person with perseverance.
“As I’ve managed to have my pageant, I’m looking forward to hosting it every year to boost and give plus-size women confidence and show them that beauty has no limit or size.”
Maatemeke was in the Miss Curvy Proud International top 5 in 2018, was the Miss Face of Limpopo Plus Size and Charity Ambassador in 2019, and was the Miss SA Plus World Charity and Cultural Ambassador in 2020.
