IZIDUDLA are gatvol of body shaming and cyberbullying.
Plus size activist Neo Maboya (30), known as Nene, told Daily Sun fat women should be left to enjoy their bodies and life in peace.
She said they had been insulted and called names, mostly by women.
Nene (30) is the founder of Plus Size Black Diamonds SA.
The brand hosts the annual Plus Size Pool Party, The Big Beautiful Women Festival, and Summer Ke Ya Di Dudla.
Women of all sizes are welcome to participate and the pictures are shared on social media.
Nene said whenever pictures of big women in their swimwear hit the internet, they’re confronted by hate and insults.
“We shared pictures and videos of our recent outing, and some of the comments referred to us as smelly, disgusting and ugly,” she said.
She said she has realised that women don’t love each other and those with negative comments lack self-love and suffer insecurities.
Nene said the events are not only for fun but also does educational talks.
“We talk about uncomfortable topics including the importance of hygiene. We encourage a healthy lifestyle and comfortable dressing,” said Nene.
She further criticised men who refer to fat women as winter stock. “We are not winter stock. We are women for all seasons,” she said.
Nene, currently a size 50, said she was bullied at school as a fat child and even thought of suicide.
She said when she got to high school, she decided to stand up for herself and promote body positivity.
