THE former world-famous Olympic and Paralympic athlete, Oscar Pistorius, has been denied parole.
Tania Koen, the lawyer for Reeva Steenkamp’s parents confirmed, the news to the Daily Sun on Friday, 31 March, when Pistorius appeared before the parole board at the Atteridgeville Correctional Service in Tshwane.
"Bail was denied. We do not know the reasons for this, and we are awaiting," said Koen.

This comes after he served half of his 13-year sentence after being found guilting of murdering his girlfriend Reeva on Valentine’s Day in February 2013.
The world-famous athlete reportedly fired four shots through a bathroom door because he believed there was an intruder in the bathroom.
But on Friday, 31 March, the parole board ruled that Pistorius would remain behind bars despite request for parole.
Department of Correctional Services spokesman Sinabakho Nxumalo confirmed the parole boards rejection of the application.
According to Nxumalo, Pistorius can re-apply for parole a year from now.
"The Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) granted inmate Pistorius a further profile for August. The reason provided is that the inmate did not complete the minimum detention period as ruled by the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) as per the clarification provided on 28 March 2023,” he said.
