THREE notorious nyaope gangsters, who have been terrorising residents of Thulamahashe near Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, dodged death on Thursday, 17 March.

Cops came to their rescue while they were being attacked by a mob.

It all started when two of them shot and injured a security guard before robbing residents. They later stormed several houses, but a woman screamed for help.

Residents came out running, and two thugs shot at them. The third managed to escape. One was caught and residents started beating him up.

He shouted: “Please, police save me before they kill me. I was hustling with my friends by stealing and robbing people to get money for nyaope.”

The crowd ran away as police came.

One resident said: “We are sick and tired of these nyaope gangsters. They shoot at us and rob us. We are cleaning them up one by one, and their dealers.”

Captain S’fiso Nyakane said no case was opened.

“Injured victims were rushed to hospital. The mob accused them of house burglaries. We request residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands as it is an act of criminality.”
