THE Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Rustenburg has postponed the case against EFF councillor and former North West provincial legislature member Betty Diale.
Diale appeared in court on Thursday, 25 January, and the case was postponed to 5 February 2024.
The court awaits the outcome of her representations from the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP). The NDPP had previously rejected her representations.
The attorney had indicated that they would be taking the NDPP's rejection of their representations to have charges against her withdrawn on review.
The court requested that they bring proof of their representations submitted to the NDPP and acknowledgement.

Diale is facing six charges of theft, amounting to about R700 000, allegedly stolen from the Road Accident Fund (RAF) claimants.
Police reports reveal that the Legal Practice Fidelity Fund received several complaints from the RAF claimants, whose payments were deposited into Diale’s trust account.
The claimants alleged that the said money didn't reach them after the payout and subsequently reported it to the police for investigation.
Diale was practising as an attorney during the alleged commission of the crimes between 2009 and 2011. She was subsequently charged with six counts of theft in June 2021. The Legal Practice Council has struck her off the roll, preventing her from practising as an attorney.
