MZWANELE Manyi has announced his resignation from the African Transformation Movement (ATM), stating that his new political home is now the EFF.
Manyi joined ATM in 2019 after leaving the ANC and he was the appointed the party’s chief of policy and strategy.
In his resignation letter, Manyi said he has come to a very difficult decision to resign from the ATM in all his capacities with immediate effect.
He said his destination political party has no alliance arrangements with the ATM, therefore staying one more day in ATM would be unethical on his part.
“The only reason I am resigning is because I strongly believe that my career in politics and contribution to the transformation agenda of South Africa will be assisted by my move. The ATM is a very good organisation and is well poised for growth.”
“I wish the organisation very well in the forthcoming 2024 national elections. I am not leaving because I am unhappy with anyone or treatment in ATM. I will always hold the ATM in high regard and hope that there will be more strategic collaborations with where I am headed,” he stated.

Manyi thanked the party's National Executive Committee members for accepting him as one of their own and their decorum in addressing various matters where he saw things differently.
"I look forward to interacting with all of you in the political arena because I believe we have a common objective, to engender a transformed and peaceful governance in our country,” he said.
On his move to a new political home, Manyi said after a careful thought and consideration he has concluded that he could serve the people of South Africa better when in an organisation like the EFF.
He said EFF, being the third largest political party in the country, is well poised to take over from the ANC quicker than any other party.
“The EFF is the real alternative that everyone has been asking about. It has scale and demonstrable track record on accountability issues,” he said.
ATM national spokeswoman Zama Ntshona confirmed that they have received and accepted Manyi's resignation letter.
“ATM notes the contribution of Mr Manyi. We wish him all the best with his future endeavours,” she said.
