AS MATRIC exams began, parents were happy and wished their kids luck on their exams.

But one mum said she was heartbroken as her daughter was still fighting for her life in hospital.

This after the 18-year-old matric pupil was stabbed six times and stoned on her face by her 18-year-old lover.

The incident happened on Monday, 2 October, allegedly after the girl refused to have an abortion as the lover was afraid of his father finding out that he had impregnated a girl.

The mum told Daily Sun she was heartbroken that her daughter couldn't write her matric exams. Her daughter was one of the top students performing exceptionally well.

“She was also busy applying at different universities, but that it’s all gone as she is still critical in ICU and her attacker is walking free on the streets, as he was released because of lack of evidence,” she said.

This was after the teenager allegedly stabbed his pregnant girlfriend six times on her back and stoned her head.

The mum said the boy’s family hasn’t shown any remorse for what their son has done to her daughter.

According to the mum, the police have made it more heartbreaking as they told her that there’s not enough evidence and no witnesses that could keep the 18-year-old suspect behind bars.

“They are waiting for my daughter to wake up and be able to tell what happened,” she said.

She said she had high hopes that her daughter would write her matric and pass very well, to be the first in her home to go and study at university.

A group of young girls had marched to the Orange Farm Police Station in the south of Joburg on Tuesday afternoon, 3 October, asking cops not to release an 18-year-old.

Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the 18-year-old teenager was arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend at Lakeside Park on Monday, 2 October.

She said the suspect has already appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrates Court on a charge of attempted murder.
