TWO men will spend Christmas in jail.
They were bust during Operation Shanela for allegedly shooting dead a 58-year-old man.
The suspects, both aged 31, were not asked to plead on charges of killing the man and dumping his body behind his house in Mkhuhlu, Mpumalanga on Monday, 18 December.
This is following their brief appearance in the Mkhuhlu Magistrates Court on Friday, 22 December.
Brigadier Selvy Mohlala confirmed that both suspects were arrested during Operation Shanela conducted in Calcutta on Tuesday, 19 December.
"Their arrest follows an incident where a 58-year-old victim was reportedly shot and killed. His lifeless body which had bullet wounds was found dumped behind his house on Monday, 18 December," he said.

Mohlala said that Operation Shanela is being carried out throughout Mpumalanga wherein about 39 suspects were nabbed for various offences.
"Eighteen suspects were arrested for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and three were bust d for rape, while two were apprehended on charges of malicious damage to property.
"Among the arrested suspects, two were charged for armed robbery and one for house breaking, and another suspect was locked up for child neglect.
"The members also arrested one suspect for Contravention of Protection Order while some were nabbed on charges of assault common, and others for Contravention of Immigration Act of South Africa," said Mohlala.
