THE Bushbuckridge Magistrates Court has postponed the case against murder accused Reply Ngobeni.

The 27-year-old appeared in court on Monday, 18 September.

He is facing a charge of murder after he allegedly slit his cousin's throat, Testimony Manchidi, in August.

Ngobeni was arrested on the day of the incident and charged accordingly.

The court was supposed to receive a mental observation report for the accused.

The court heard that the report is not yet ready.

The charge emanates from an incident where Ngobeni was last seen with the five-year-old victim at a local spaza shop in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.

The little girl's body was later found with stab wounds on her upper body, dumped in a nearby bush.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim left home with the suspect to a nearby tuck shop to buy some snacks.

Ngobeni then returned home alone without the child.

It is alleged that he informed his family members that the victim went to play with other kids.

The family members became concerned and launched a search, where they later made the gruesome discovery.

The matter was postponed to 17 October for the mental observation report.
